About

I have been painting since I was a child. My mother was an artist and my parents were incredibly supportive. Even as my beautiful life took me in other directions, painting was always a part of my days.

I started out as a creative director in local television - primarily in Boston. It was an extraordinary 20+ years of invigorating work alongside dedicated, creative people. My career eventually took me to nonprofits, and a different kind of rigorous work with extraordinary people.   

Along the way, the COVID-19 pandemic gave me a window of time to live a more examined life. Communing with hawks, herons, squirrels, robins, ducks, geese, woodpeckers, and trees, I witnessed the natural world awakening as the human world shut down. Spring's wild rising emerged in 2020 as if nothing else mattered.  Five weeks into the COVID shut down, I started painting trees—purple trees with a yellow sky. Purple trees whisper and shout that anything is possible – that I, too, could be wild and rising as if nothing else mattered. That is when I committed to making art a deeper part of my life.  

Today, I am blessed to work at the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts and paint part-time. Through my art, I strive to create beauty and spread awareness about our interconnectedness with the natural world.

My Process

Nature's elements appear as I paint the background; color, texture, and wood panel (or canvas) intersect. My subconscious has me exploring, getting lost, and finding the courage to keep going. Each painting is a spiritual journey that begins with wonder, with feelings of disorientation in a kind of wilderness. The work is constantly being deconstructed, allowing me to unlearn, relearn, imagine, and discover what wants to be seen. 

Toni Morrison said, "Sometimes the Earth's beauty is enough. You don't need to photograph, paint or even remember it."  But sometimes, you want to express what you have witnessed.
